Faribault Evangelical Free Church
The first thing we want you to know about us is that there is a place
for you here. We long to be a place of love, acceptance, and forgiveness
for all. Dan Van Loon, our senior pastor, effectively leads and guides us with relevant Bible teaching. Dan Ford, our youth pastor, touches the lives of many young people in our community and works with a team of dedicated men and women to provide a wealth of opportunities for our children and youth. We would be honored to have you come and be our guest at one of our Sunday Worship Services.
If you come on a Sunday for worship, you may wonder what you will find. How should I dress? What if I don't know anyone? What if I don't want to know anyone right now? You will find that we are quite casual and friendly and that you can remain anonymous if that's your desire.
Faribault Evangelical Free Church is one of some 1,250 churches of the
Evangelical Free Church of America. Our
Statement of Faith lists common beliefs you will find held by
any Free Church. Though we are grateful for a wonderful history and distinctives as a movement of inter-dependent churches, it is our Lord Jesus Christ in whom we put our trust to supply wisdom and strength for the challenging days ahead.
We are often asked about our name. "Faribault" I understand and "Church" I understand but what is the bit with "Evangelical Free"?
What Does "Evangelical" Mean?
The term Evangelical refers to our commitment to the proclamation of the "evangel" (from an old word meaning "Good News") of Jesus Christ and to the authority of Scriptures as being inerrant in the original writings and the only safe and sufficient guide to faith and practice. What Does "Free" Mean?
The term Free refers to our form of church government as being congregational. Evangelical Free Churches depend upon the active participation of lay people in the decisions and directions for that local ministry. Though individual Free churches are not controlled by some national governing body, they freely cooperate in efforts like education, compassion and missions to accomplish more than any one local church could do on their own.
